Last year, Capital One quietly launched a small-business rewards card available exclusively to clients with a Capital One Relationship Manager. The Capital One Spark Travel Elite card was noticeably similar to the issuer's premium credit card, the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, with parallel earning rates, travel benefits, and annual fees.
Now the cards are even more aligned. The Capital One Spark Travel Elite card will rebrand next week as the new Capital One Venture X Business Card.
Rolling out a small-business version of the popular Venture X Rewards Credit Card makes a lot of sense, since the cards are so similar. While there's no word on a new welcome bonus, the Capital One Spark Travel Elite card previously had an intro offer of 50,000 Capital One miles after spending $10,000 on purchases in the first three months, and 200,000 miles after spending $50,000 on purchases in the first six months.
But it's not all good news, because the Venture X Business Card won't be available to just anyone. As with its previous incarnation, you'll need to apply for the card through your Capital One Relationship Manager (they're like a liaison between business owners and the bank who help arrange accounts, loans, and other credit). There's no online application link.

One of the main differences between the Venture X Business Card and its personal sibling is that it's a charge card — that is, there's no preset spending limit, and you'll need to pay your card off in full each month to avoid a late fee.
Charge cards are handy for small-business owners because they allow the flexibility to make large purchases without running up against a credit limit. That said, no preset spending limit doesn't mean unlimited spending power — banks typically assess your credit profile, payment and purchase history, and other factors before approving big transactions.
Apart from that (and a yet-unknown welcome bonus offer), the Venture X Business Card is nearly identical to the Venture X Rewards Credit Card. Cardholders earn 10x miles on hotels and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel, 5x miles on flights booked through Capital One Travel, and unlimited 2x miles on all other purchases.
Both cards have similar benefits well, including:
- Up to $300 per year in travel statement credits toward Capital One Travel bookings
- Priority Pass, Plaza Premium, and Capital One airport lounge access
- 10,000-mile bonus each account anniversary (worth at least $100 in travel)
- Global Entry or TSA PreCheck application fee credit
The Venture X Business Card earns Capital One miles, just like the Venture X Rewards Credit Card and other cards such as the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, Capital One Spark Miles for Business , and Capital One VentureOne Rewards Credit Card.
These miles are incredibly flexible, because you can either transfer them to over a dozen Capital One airline and hotel partners to book award travel, or redeem them for statement credits against eligible travel purchases made with your card at a rate of 1 cent per mile.
So far, there's no word on other card details, including the welcome bonus and specific travel or purchase protections.
If you don't have a Capital One Relationship Manager or don't qualify for a business credit card, all is not lost. The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card is a much more accessible option, and its currently offering a big welcome bonus of 75,000 bonus miles when you spend $4,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening (worth around $1,275 in travel, according to Insider's valuations).
