Person shot by Border Patrol in New Hampshire after allegedly shooting at agent
08, Jun 2026A person was shot by U.S. Border Patrol after allegedly shooting at a federal agent early Sunday in Pittsburg, New Hampshire, near the U.S.-Canada border.
A spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Boston office says they are investigating the incident that occurred around 1 a.m. during which the federal agent was allegedly shot at and then returned fire, striking the person.
The person who was shot was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries is unclear at this time, and officials haven’t released their name.
The agent was not injured, the spokesperson added. The agent's name also hasn’t been released.
Officials also haven’t said what led up to the shooting.
The FBI’s Evidence Response Team was collecting evidence from the scene, according to the spokesperson, who said no further information will be released at this time as it’s an ongoing matter.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Hampshire is also investigating what happened.
